Riley's First Date? is a five-minute Pixar short released alongside the Blu-ray and digital edition of Inside Out (2015), serving as a companion piece to that film rather than a standalone release. Directed by Josh Cooley, who had worked as a story artist on several Pixar features before going on to direct Toy Story 4 (2019), the short revisits the Inside Out premise to play a single comic situation for quick laughs, with Kyle MacLachlan and Kaitlyn Dias reprising their roles from the feature. It sits comfortably in the Pixar tradition of home-media shorts that expand a world without demanding much of it, produced at a moment when Inside Out had become one of the studio's most critically celebrated films in years.
