Gone with the Dead (2024)

Gone with the Dead is a micro-budget zombie horror from director Justin W. Smith, working through his own Krusade Motion Pictures alongside Audiovisual Films. Made for roughly $10,000, it sits firmly in the tradition of ultra-low-cost American independent horror, a lineage stretching back to George Romero's Night of the Living Dead (itself famously shot on a similar sum back in 1968). Smith has worked primarily in low-budget genre territory, with the west coast zombie premise here following familiar post-apocalyptic survival territory that dominated streaming-era horror in the early 2020s. The film stars Derek Crowe, Sophia Rodes, and Joshua Flores, none of whom had significant prior screen credits, making it a production built almost entirely on resourcefulness rather than recognisable talent or studio backing.

Absolutely awful to be honest. Acting, story, effects, scripting. Everything about it isn't just low budget... it's shoddy and amateurish. George Romero made Night of the Living Dead on $10k. Even for zombie movies it's pretty poor
