Yakuza Girl (2024)
½ — Yakuza Girl (2024)
Yakuza Girl is a low-budget American independent production from CineRidge Entertainment and Cinema Epoch, two outfits that specialise in releasing micro-budget genre fare through digital and VOD channels. Director Louis DeStefano works in the very low end of the indie action space, with little mainstream profile outside a handful of small-scale productions. The film draws on the enduring Western fascination with yakuza mythology, a subgenre kept alive largely by imported Japanese cinema but occasionally attempted (with mixed results) by American filmmakers working on minimal resources. At 82 minutes and with a cast of largely unknown performers, it sits firmly in the tradition of shot-on-a-shoestring action titles that target genre completists rather than wide theatrical audiences.
It's so bad the actors say their lines wrong then re-do them from time to time.. It's literally one of the worst films I've ever seen. Acting is terrible. Story is ridiculous. Cinematography looks like it's a home movie. Terrible.
