Cinema in the 2020s has been defined by disruption: streaming upended theatrical habits, the pandemic forced a rethink of what a film release even means, and audiences have increasingly embraced subtitled films like How to Make Millions Before Grandma Dies alongside big animation and documentary work. Macca's reviews from the decade reflect that breadth. Browse what he's made of it below.

Brianna Lee is one of those filmmakers who simply does the lot. On her debut feature The Troll she wrote, directed, produced, edited and took the lead role, and it earned her a nomination for Best Performance in a Debut Feature when it world premiered at the 34th Raindance Film

Let's be honest: when those first official images of Sonic surfaced online, it was one of the most alarming things I'd seen in a cinema preview in years. Those teeth. Those unsettling human-ish eyes. The strange, elongated limbs. I remember thinking there was absolutely no

There's a moment early in I'm Still Here where the warmth of a family home, the laughter, the cluttered kitchen, the sun coming through the windows, feels almost unbearably fragile. You know what's coming. The film knows you know. And Walter Salles lets that

"Everything is sacrifice, you just have to make sure you don't sacrifice the wrong thing." That line lands early in My Father's Shadow and it stays with you for the rest of the film's running time, sitting quietly at the back of

There's a moment early in The Suicide Squad where a group of genuinely terrible people are dropped onto a beach and almost immediately torn to shreds, and it sets the tone perfectly. James Gunn is not messing about. This is loud, bloody, irreverent, and thoroughly committed to its

I've seen just about every version of The Mummy that cinema has thrown at the world. The atmospheric eeriness of the Boris Karloff original, the brilliantly goofy, globe-trotting adventures of Brendan Fraser, and yes, even the ill-fated Tom Cruise reboot that nobody asked for and nobody

There are films you watch and forget by the following morning, and there are films that crawl under your skin and refuse to leave. Obsession is very much the latter. I went in completely blind, which I'd strongly urge you to do as well, because the experience is
